The Top Hair Trends of 2020
With the shutdown of salons across the country these past few months, it’s safe to say our hairstyles have had to adjust slightly! For more than 3 months, lockdown has given us the opportunity to start embracing our natural colours and textures that we may have been trying to conceal with regular dye jobs and blow dries. Salons have finally been given the all-clear to open again (and we couldn’t be more thrilled!), so here’s a rundown of the hair trends we think will be popular with our customers for the remainder of 2020.
Low Maintenance Colouring
If you have grown to love your natural hair colour during lockdown, but maybe just want to give it some extra ‘zhuzh’, then a low maintenance colour is the way to go! One of the most enduring hair trends, this low maintenance look adds subtle highlights or lowlights to your hair for an extra boost of dimension, without committing to a colour that needs a lot of upkeep.
If you really have come to LOVE a particular shade, then a solid colour could be the best option for you. Concealing greys, unwanted tones (great for those with a lot of red or ashy tones in their hair!) and giving a glossy, shiny look – you really can’t go wrong having your hair dyed in a block colour! Whether you opt for a ‘my hair but better’ natural shade, a frosty platinum hue or a beautiful brunette tone, you can be sure to turn heads. Having your hair just one solid shade is a bold and chic look, popular on the runway and favoured by countless celebrities and models. Solid colours are great at any length, but they look particularly stylish with a sharp and sleek bob! (Think Bella Hadid working the red carpet).
Without the expertise of professional hair stylists to help tame your hair, you may have found it tricky to work with the natural textures of your hair, particularly if you regularly get smoothing treatments or blowouts. Whether your hair is wavy, coily or curly, there’s nothing better than loving the natural hair textures that you were born with! Sporting your natural texture can make you stand out from the crowd and maybe even inspire others to do the same!
There have been many creative lockdown hairstyles that have taken off in recent months. One of them being face-framing locks, either with natural hair colour shades or bold colourful ones. Having those face-framing colours can give your hair an edgy 90s inspired style, whether a creamy blonde or UV green! Plus, as its just two small portions of your hair, it can also be a great way to try out the trend, providing a starting point to test if you like that colour if you were thinking of dying your whole hair that colour!
Ahhhh the ever trusty balayage, loved by many, this colouring technique is still as popular as ever! Balayage is a great way of incorporating your own natural root growth by blending it in with another colour as the hair goes down. If you’ve been saving your lockdown roots for your stylist, then balayage is a beautiful way of having glamourous hair without the maintenance of keeping your roots done as your hair grows.
